Stunning Jane in NYC

jane tiles

Well, Jane is absolutely gorgeous and has the most fabulous hair and smile. It was such a pleasure to draw her and what a fun theme for her bat mitzvah! I love a city theme.

Here's a handsome young guy, ready to go for his bar mitzvah in March!

SAGE bonaire

This was a fun one. A wonderful client from Bonaire in the Netherland Antilles contacted me for a logo for her new company. Taking my inspiration from the island’s habitat as well as recognizing that this was for a newly-established financial institution, I designed the below. Muted colors are out when dealing with Bonaire. Other design elements included the sage leaf (representing new beginnings and a bow to the company name) and the water wave at the bottom. The outside image is in a square format to represent strength, stability and power. They loved it.

A Christmas Gift from Dad

This was a beautiful idea. A Dad called me about making a memory for his young children. Not traditionally sentimental, he wanted to instead give them a personal message they wouldn’t forget. I thought this was really touching. I’m pretty sure he was careful not to give them this at the same time he was giving them an XBox! :)

Giant Leaf!

Boy, I have not been posting. I’ve been very busy though designing stuff for my Elevate Your Sleep project and for my favorite bat mitzvah kids. Like all designers, I like to work in different mediums though and, in my off time, I’ve been knitting giant things and here’s a fun sampling. I’m planning on covering my apartment’s floor in them instead of a standard rug.

Red or blue??

These images were created for a NY interior designer. His client was wearing a pair of shoes like this and he wanted to incorporate a very large scale image of something like them into his apartment.

I think shoelaces are harder to draw than faces: shadow, shadow, shadow, highlight. Beat up old shoes seem to have a very distinct personality. I modeled these after a pair of my son’s old ones. Wasn’t sure I’d ever finish. We’re working with the base of the shoe color now as well as the cropping to figure out what looks best. Once printed, I’ll sign the piece.

Working on a great shoe graphic now too for a NYC client. They needed something very specific for their home, concept and size wise.

Michael's Sign-In Book

Book Cover ideas for sign in books! Here’s a great example of the difference a great background image can make. All sign-in books are 13” x 10” and come with a matching dust jacket.

Fun “night club” version with color choices of lime green, yellow and turquoise.

Michael looks great and ready-to-go for his Bar Mitzvah! Michael’s mom wanted a sign-in book for Michael just like she had made for his brother Jason a few years ago. Time flies!

Looking forward to spending next week updating and designing my new app. What will it be? Right now that has to stay a surprise!

Oliner Graphics is on Facebook (finally)

It's be kind to tall people day. If anyone wants to take pity on me and "like" my Oliner Graphics fb page, that would be very kind. I'm trying to remember that marketing is a good thing to do when one is in business. Speaking of being kind to tall people. Am I the only person in the world that actually grew an inch in her forties? For the past two years my doctor has informed me that, indeed, I am now 6'3". Oh my.

Stunning Rachel

Here’s a pretty one! Rachel looks absolutely gorgeous for her Bat Mitzvah! Rachel is wearing a fushia dress with a theme of butterflies. I had fun drawing this. Gorgeous hair, beautiful smile Rachel is ready for her big day!

NY Post article!

Very much looking forward to having Oliner Graphics’ app “Shabbat Blessings” featured in an upcoming NY Post article. We were contacted last week regarding women-owned app development businesses. We’ve been told that they are even sending a photographer! How exciting! I suppose my standard artist haircut may need to become more polished rather quickly. :)

In other news, we’re very much looking forward to our West Village studio becoming completed. Since the space is so small, I’ve really pushed the vertical space factor. My super figured out pretty quickly I was a designer when I kept talking about line and depth. The floor’s in, the tile is up in the micro bathroom and we’re awaiting the custom build-ins. (I originally thought it would be fun to make the cabinets myself but was quickly talked out of that!) We did a lot with a little space and cannot wait to use it!

Gorgeous Marissa

What a beauty Marissa is and what a pleasure it was to draw her. Marissa’s event colors are pink and black and we had a great time with them even incorporating them into a metallic card stock for the back of her invitations (not shown). Marissa wrote me this: “OMG, the invitations are amazing! I have never seen such a cool invitation.” I love it when the kids are happy.

FINALLY! Our latest app is out — and it’s a FREE download!!!
Designed for your iPhone/iTouch/iPad
Of course, I’m always thinking in the Jewish/Yiddish style and since I’m also on weight watchers (again), I’m thinking about food ALL THE TIME right now.
“A Little Nosh” Pachinko Game is our tribute to the Latkas, corned beefs on ryes, pickels, sour cream and black and white cookies of your past and future.

Have some fun trying to get the latkes to hit the sour cream and rack up points. The high point score in the Oliner home is 23.

"I own the Deli"

I've owned this store forever, and I made the very first knish.
I put the tongue and corned beef together, I made matzo and gefilte fish.
I sliced pastrami for the whole East Side, I got the business from an uncle who died.
I make potato salad, cole slaw too. I own the deli, I'm a Jew.*

~with thanks to Stu Moss as he channels Barry Manilow’s “I write the songs”.

I suppose I needed a bit of cheesy humor today. I’m in rush mode. I have to try and finish 3 images by next week. rush-rush-rush :)

Here’s updates to the gorgeous Sara and initial sketching on Michael.
