Adventure Bar Mitzvah video

mitzvah
Here's my own son's bar mitzvah video. I embedded a
bunch of my own graphics and animations into it. It
should give you some ideas of additional ways to use
your own graphics in other parts of your event. One
thing to notice is the flash animation I put towards
the end of the video. This is something new I'm
working on and hopefully should be able to offer with
your graphic options shortly.
Triple the Fun!!
Here are the amazing Gab, Zach and Sam! This was a
fun job as I had to try to incorporate their
different styles and favorites into their graphics.
Here's what mom had to say: Liz, Thank you for the update, I can't wait to see them!! The invitations are out and everybody has loved our stamp, thank you, thank you!!! Amazing Job!! It has been a pleasure to work with you too, I'll let you know when everything arrives.

Great pic I just got so you can see the actual size
of a sign in book next to a standard-sized 9 year old
girl. All the interior pages (20) were blank for
writing. I just did another one of these and the mom
put in a few family photos for people to write
around.

I drew myself, as well as the dog, my husband and the
rest of the mishpacha for my own son's bar mitzvah on
Dec. 5th. It was absolutely amazing. Kept me very
busy and kept me from blogging for awhile. We had it
on a boat with an "adventure" theme. Good thing too
because the weather made it quite the adventure!

Although everyone loved these I spent way too much
time creating a pop-up bar mitzvah invitation.
However, the printed graphic on the front and

amazing I'm going to offer them on my order

Man of Peace - Animation for Podcast
25/10/09 16:44 Filed in: samplesportraits
I had the great opportunity to work again with my
wonderful client The Friends Council on Education. We
are revisiting a previous image I had drawn of Mr.
William Penn and are spicing it up for a podcast. All
in all we are making Mr. Penn Wave, my client (not
pictured here) kick up her leg, Mr. Penn's hat fly
off and a dove with an olive branch fly in and land
on his shoulder. I am also including a cityscape that
will be zoomed in on in the intro. I am including
some of the illustrations that will be used by their
animator in Flash. What a fun job! What a great
client!
Here's what my client had to say: Oh, Liz!!!!!!!! I just looked at all the files you've sent me and they are just fabulous. I have to see how they animate, but I just love them!!!!!! Oh, I love them!!!!! ~G.

Top secret project
01/10/09 08:45
I know I haven't posted for awhile many of my recent
projects. I've been knee deep in illustrating a huge
themed event with at least 9 portraits that will be
held in early December. The graphics will be used in
the invites, montage and displayed as table tents and
posters throughout the event. I won't be able to post
any of these images until after the big event so stay
tuned for the second week of december when I can post
all of them!

14/08/09 16:58
The following three images are all part of the same
series. Its a nice example of what you can do with a
theme.
I had another question recently about how I create my work and if I used a photoshop filter. I do not use any filters. I hand draw each of these images. I draw them in adobe illustrator using a small wacom tablet and a graphic pen. I use the photos of my models as starting points and references only. That's why I always ask my clients for a grouping of photos. I want to make sure I capture the spirit of the individual I'm drawing.

Friendly Podcast!
Here's some real fun! This graphic was created for a
series of educational podcasts for the Friends
Council on Education. I actually created two screens,
a sign-on and a sign-off screen. My client wanted her
image only on the exit image and requested a
"bemused" expression on William Penn. She also wanted
to be standing on top of city hall in Philadelphia
with his stature! Wow, I think we've got it!

I'm having some fun here. This graphic has a lot going on. A full body graphic, an Indiana Jones theme, a New York night sky and the event will be held on a boat. This is a few steps up from the standard portrait package but will blow up unbelievably into a gorgeous print. Unlike most full body illustrations, the same amount of attention as a standard portrait was put into the Bar Mitzvah's face so that it could also be used as a stand alone blow up on its own. The intended use of the graphic is a welcoming sign onto the boat, sign-in art, table tents, place cards as well as being incorporated into the custom invitations. (For the layman reading this please note that the word "proof" has been written across the graphic for protection purposes. This will, of course, be removed when printing.)
One thing to keep in mind is that my artwork is drawn with the intent of blowing up BIG! Massive detail work is put into the graphics which can't be seen on the teeny tiny scale of the computer. Here's a blow up of the bar mitzvah's eye. These illustrations are super detailed and intense to draw!

Logo work
12/04/09 11:57
Logo concept for a fund group. The square logo
represents a mountain ridge as well as upward growth
on a chart.
Another logo version for the campus to career idea but with a font the client really wanted. The campus font is so strong and unique that its difficult to blend it with the formal "career" idea. The banner/pennant representing college has also been styled to resemble the campus font to bring balance to the look.

I put this invite together awhile ago but had to wait
until after the party to post it. Got lots of fun
feedback on this one. Scroll down a bit and I took a
horribly grainy pic of it with my mac camera.
Here's the horrible mac camera photo. Of course, the mac camera always gives a mirrored image for some ridiculous reason. And, I have no desire to flip it.
Anyway, the final print out was pretty big, a 8.5 x 5.5 folded card UV coating on one-side. The colors printed nicely too. I used overnight prints to print it and they did a very good job.

This is so cool - I just showed it to Andrew and he LOVES it -
Thank you sooooo much.

How nice! I was featured in Mitzavh Market!
Here's what they wrote, "Liz Oliner is an artist. Not with food, balloons or cakes, but with a good old fashioned pen and paper (and a computer!). Her company, Oliner Graphics, creates photo-inspired art that makes for fabulous and personalized welcome signs, sign-in boards, invitations, place cards and so much more. We recently met Liz at the Celebrate! Party Showcase in Teaneck, NJ, and were very impressed!
Visit the Onliner Graphics Website to see samples, to "watch" Liz draw and to read her graphics blog.

Here's the original I based the work on.

People wonder why I wanted to stop working for
agencies in the city and go on my own. This should be
shown as a warning video to graphic
design/illustration undergrads.
Note: I noticed this you tube video didn't pull up on my husband's PC due to lack of a plug in. So my apologies if this post didn't show properly.

Here's a beauty. Samantha's bat mitzvah is on New
Years! The image was created with that in mind and
the blue's were given a lively depth. I played with
the background graphics with the concept of the
falling confetti and the excitement of the evening.

Party Money

Ideas!
Need some Mad Money for your party? Look no further
than Oliner Graphics! I just had a great conversation
with a client who wants to do a Bond theme for her
son's Bar Mitzvah. I'm so excited as it was the same
theme I used for my own son's three years ago. Here's
a sample of some "party cash" as well as the $1,000
party cash I used for my own son's Bar Mitzvah.
(James Bond doesn't mess with mere $20s. He NEEDS big money!) How fun!
You'll be supplied with a digital file with your cash 3 up (Just like at the mint!) and you can print them off or photo copy them on colored paper. Fun & economical. Tie that theme together!

Here's a great idea! Ask Liz to take your image and
create a welcome sign for your guests. They look
great welcoming your guests into the party!
Zack-with a change of shirt!
Our wonderful Zack just had his favorite t-shirt
replaced by a more formal shirt. And he didn't even
have to know! Mom' seems very happy, here's what she
had to say:
More perfect than I imagined! Thank you so much for the extra attention. Consider this my final approval for Zack's image Pict #22.
Can't wait to see finished "Zack's Bar Mitzvah" poster and sign in poster.
